17th Annual Okanagan Knitting Retreat

May 22, 2015 - May 25, 2015

The purpose of the retreat is to develop independence and a deeper appreciation for the knitting process. The two concurrent workshops for the 17th annual retreat have been planned with these principles in mind.

  1. The Return on Your Investment With Janet Armstrong, Paulette Lane and Cathy Chapman.

You’ve invested lots of money in the yarn. Now you need to invest the time to ensure the resulting garment will fit well so that you will wear it for a long time. Whether you have an existing pattern which needs to be adjusted or you want to design something uniquely yours, this workshop is for you.

The workshop will cover:

The workshop will cover:

– how and why to swatch

– how to measure your body

– calculating ease

– developing a schematic

– short row shaping for improved fit

– converting a drop shoulder to a set-in sleeve (why do this and how)

From Home-made to Hand-made

With Myriam Dostert

Aimed at newer knitters (as well as more experienced knitters who have some gaps in basic knowledge and skill). This workshop is for you if you would like to improve your shaping and finishing skills and explore some of the details that can enhance your knitting.

Optional Friday workshop:  Double Knitting

Workshop will cover the tubular cast on, knitting and purling with a yarn in each hand, developing a positive/negative pattern (whether random dots and/or charted shapes), and the tubular cast off.

Additional Fee for this workshop: $75.00
