We are very excited to have Ivan Sayers accept our invitation to speak at our November 6th meeting about the history of knitted women’s wear. In fact, our entire evening will be given over to Mr. Sayers who is never short on words and we say that in a kindly way.
Ivan Sayers is a well-known clothing historian who currently has an exhibit at the Vancouver Museum called La Belle Epoque 1890-1914, which runs until March 23, 2008. Many of you will remember the Panache exhibit at the museum a few years ago.
Mr. Sayers started collecting women’s clothing at a very young age and his passion for vintage clothing is conveyed in a lively, entertaining, and humourous way. For over 30 years, Ivan Sayers has dedicated himself to preserving and teaching the history of fashion. His vast collection goes back to the 1800s and since he left his curatorial position at the museum over 10 years ago, he has been in demand as a guest speaker throughout Canada and the U.S. You won’t want to miss this casual lecture. Mark your calendars now. For more information about Ivan read A Passion for Vintage Fashion on the Secondhand Savvy website.
