Questions are good.
It’s a new site, and a new experience for the WCKG. To make the most of it we all have to jump in, explore, post, participate - don’t be shy!
There’s lots of how-to info available, including photos, posting, comments, and user accounts. But if you haven’t found what you want to know, post your question here. And guess what? You’ll probably get an answer. ’cause the whole mind-reading method? ..we’re not so good at that!
If you’re looking for the calendar of events, click on the ‘Events’ tab at the top. To submit an event, click on the ‘About’ tab and use the contact form. The ‘Gallery’ tab will take you to our ever-growing collection of photographs - have you submitted some of yours yet? In the side column you will find various links including for our main categories and for posts that have most recently been commented on (Active Discussions). Click around, leave a comment, save a bookmark, and visit often!

Pose your questions here!
Generally relevant info will be migrated to a more permanent location.
Q: Do posts ever “die”? Will we be regularly deleting older posts? And does “Active” Discussions really mean “active”, or do they “go away” at some chronological point?
A: A key principle of blogs is that older posts don’t go away, it’s all archived. (Although posts can be deleted, or edited, if needed).
The Active Discussions plugin (used in the sidebar) will highlight posts that have recent activity, i.e. comments.
When I submit this comment, this post will jump to the top of the list!
For any individual post, comments can be closed which would effectively take it out of the running for the active list. The post could still be found from the archives, a keyword search, or from a direct link such as a bookmark.
Q: How do I make my first name / full name / nickname appear instead of my user name?
A: First, put your information in your user profile. (If you are logged in then click on your name in the top right corner of this page for a direct link). The last item in the ‘name’ section is ‘Display name publicly as:’ which has a drop down list of your options.
If you have just added or changed anything, you will have to save your profile for the options to be updated, then make your choice and save again.
Hello, I’m a 70 year-old very experienced knitter, who has developed severe arthritis in my neck and left arm. It is becoming impossible to continue knitting - even for a short time - and I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can continue to knit? Many Thanks, Pat
Pat,
Have you considered a basic knitting machine? Not an expensive, all the bells and whistles model, but a basic model. It is possible to knit cables, lace, colour work by maniputaling the stitches with tools.
I also have had problems with my shoulders, wrist and fingers but am able to keep my flexibility with losts of stretching exercises. Not sure if that will work for you but I offer it as a suggestion.
